Colorado Fly Fishing Guides

Arkansas River

Our home is the Arkansas River in the beautiful Arkansas Valley in Central Colorado. The Arkansas Valley, one of the most geologically interesting areas in the United States, is a rift valley running from Leadville in the North through Salida in the South, it is part of the Rio Grande Rift, which will one day be a new ocean from the Gulf of Mexico to Leadville. The Arkansas River cuts a beautiful fishery throughout the entire length of the valley. From a meandering meadow stream in the north to raging whitewater at the Royal Gorge, the Arkansas will please the spirit as well as the body.

For something different try for Pike with fly fishing gear. Take our boat trip to Eleven Mile resevoir with Pat and experience Pike fishing Colorado style. Left is Pat with a Pike he caught at Eleven Mile Reservoir.

We specialize in fishing the Northern part of the Arkansas River that starts as a meandering stream and then quickly cuts through the granite of the Mosquito Range to form canyons, pools and runs. The last glacial period about twenty thousand years ago pushed the Arkansas River East into the granite where it has formed the beautiful area we fish today.

Colorado Fly Fishing Guides has added some of the best walk and wade private water on the Arkansas River for an additional fee of $75.00 per person. If you decide to take advantage of the private locations, you can pay for this on the day of your trip.

South Platte River
We also offer trips to the incredible "Dream Stream" which is part of the South Platte river between Spinney Ranch and Eleven Mile Reservoir. This is incredible water with huge rainbows and browns. The trico hatch will be here everyday from late June through September.
South Park Reservoirs

We also fish the reservoirs located in the South Park of Colorado, which is just east of the Arkansas Valley. South Park has a grand beauty all of its own. This lovely rolling park-like area, surrounded by mountains was once the hunting grounds of the Ute and Cheyenne Indian tribes. Now it is home to some of the largest trout in Colorado. Buffalo and antelope are typically seen on a drive to the fishing site.

Let us take you to gold medal Spinney Reservoir or Eleven Mile Reservoir for some of the best still water fishing in the state.

We offer boat trips here for trophy fish. Sit back and relax while our guides take you to the hot spots on Gold Medal water in a fishing boat.

Special Trips
Rod Fees, (a fishing term for fishing on private property) are $40.00 per person in addition to the guiding fees below. Colorado Fishing Guides have 3 great private properties on Arkansas River with private water.
